A Review of the Liberty Village Market feat. Pampered Pooches 2017
Last Saturday, September 9th, we participated in our very first outdoor event: the Liberty Village Market (presented by the Toronto Art Crawl). This was the market’s second year, and the weather was gorgeous (once the sun appeared, around noon)! The addition of Pampered Pooches made it a fantastic event for dog owners, too!
The Pampered Pooches vendors were scattered around the venue, providing a fun balance for local art lovers and puppy parents alike.
I took the opportunity to chat with the local pet business owners, and met some lovely folks who are as obsessed with pets as we are! I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of pet products—we saw homemade food and treats, hand-made toys and accessories, pet portraits, and lots more!

Vendors are listed in no particular order.
Seriously, how awesome is that business name?
Inspired by her real-life “tripawd” Atlas the Frenchie, Alisha Hammond started Tripawd Phodawgrafur to “capture priceless moments of your fur-baby that will stay with you for years to come.”
Toronto Portrait Arts
(Trust me, this photo does NOT do justice to the quality of these paintings!)
Colin W Davis is a skilled oil painter who collaborates with each client to create an enchanting and timeless work of art. He came to the Liberty Village Market showcasing his pet portraits, but he’s known for “human” portraits too!
Village Fare Foods
All-natural treats made with love from the highest quality, North American ingredients. Fun fact: because these treats are made from human-grade ingredients… I was told humans can eat them (although I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that…)! And judging by the crowd that gathered around their sample table, they certainly have the doggy stamp of approval.
Walnut & Company
If you’re looking for single-ingredient, hand-made, locally sourced meat treats, you’re in the right place! I had the privilege of meeting founders Christine and Hossein and learning all about their Golden Retrievers Walnut and Cashew—the inspirations behind the product!
(Jax and Rio, the most adorable brand ambassadors ever)
Pawfectly Prepared provides home-cooked meals for your dog, and delivers them straight to your doorstep anywhere in the GTA. These meals are a natural and healthy alternative to kibble—no fillers, preservatives or animal by-products.

Jax Dog Toys
Handmade pet toys and stylish leashes made of unbleached cotton rope and natural dyes. I love that they don’t use any tape or glue on the inside of their products; just natural twine holding them together. The toys are so beautiful, you almost feel bad letting your dog chew them up!
Oh My Cat
This booth caught my eye thanks to the adorable collection of, well, everything feline (even the owner’s name is Cat!)
Oh My Cat is an “online boutique for cat lovers featuring high quality, handmade gifts for cats and cat lovers.” It’s such a gorgeous curation of products: 0% tacky, 100% cute.
It’s so sweet when a business is inspired by one special furbaby (are you seeing a trend in this article?) Milo the fashionable puppy was the reason Lucky Dog began providing handmade dog accessories. My favourites are the little “shirt collars” for dogs, and the variety of colourful patterns to choose from!
Little White Dog
The Little White Dog is a family-run boutique specializing in high quality products for small dogs. At their booth, I saw some adorable toys (they look like doggy versions of people things – like a “chewy vuiton” handbag!) and even cuter handmade puppy outfits!
Haya is a certified professional dog trainer qualified in everything from basic obedience to police K-9 and service dog training! From my conversation with her, I could tell that she has a deep understanding of canine behaviour and learning theory, and she is SO passionate about dogs!
Liberty Village Animal Hospital
The neighbourhood’s top vet clinic was giving away some fun swag at their booth! They’re a full-service facility run by Dr. Ellen Kinzl, who has an extensive background in emergency medicine. I could tell right away that the Liberty Village Animal Hospital team is a tight-knit family that loves their community.
Location: 171 East Liberty Street, Unit #120, Toronto
Pets in Motion
Did you know Toronto has an animal chiropractic clinic? Me neither!
I learned all about it from Dr. Paul Rosenberg, who explained to me that in theory, it’s just like working on “humans”… but a lot more challenging (pets don’t usually understand that they need to sit still for treatment)! Pets in Motion will work alongside your veterinarian to help improve your pet’s quality of life.
Location: 4202 Dundas Street West, Toronto
