The 5 Best Places to Walk Your Dog in Toronto
Are you and your pooch looking for a change in scenery? In search of new places for you and Fido to hang out?
If you live in Toronto, there’s no shortage of amazing parks and trails for you and your furry friend to explore!
We’ve narrowed our search and present to you our best places to walk your dog in the city.
In no particular order…
1. High Park
Location: 1873 Bloor St West
It’s Toronto’s largest public park with roughly 400 acres of greenery, perfect for your pup to roam and enjoy nature.
There’s an off-leash area (the locals call it Dog Hill) located between Grenadier Restaurant and the High Park Zoo. Ample bench seating? Check. Water fountain? Check. But that’s not all. High Park also offers an off-leash path with designated trails for Fido to discover.
You’ll be sure to bump into fellow dog owners and nature enthusiasts alike.
2. Cherry Beach/Clarke Beach Park
Location: 1 Cherry St
If you call Toronto home, you’ve most likely heard of Cherry Beach.
The beach’s park is home to an off-leash area where you can watch your dog play while enjoying the view of the outer harbour. Picture perfect right?
There’s also plenty of parking making it a convenient stop for a stroll on the sand.
3. Trinity Bellwoods Park
Location: 790 Queen St West
This is THE place to be if you live in the west end of the city. You’ll find friends coming together eating lunch on the grass, musicians playing and yes, lots of dog owners with their furry friends.
Trinity Bellwoods Park is also home to the Dog Bowl, a leash-free area to let Fido play.
Even on leash, there’s plenty to see, sniff and hear in this 14.6 hectare park. Mature trees, squirrels and birds will delight your puppy’s senses.
4. Waterfront Trail
Location: 1755 Lake Shore Boulevard West
Who doesn’t love the view of the water? Soak up the majesty that is one of the great lakes while giving your dog the adventure of waterfront walking!
You really can’t go wrong with the waterfront trail.
If your pooch gets excited by cyclists and in-line skaters, head over to Sunnyside Park (address listed above) or between Woodbine Beach and Balmy beach. In these areas there are designated boardwalks just for pedestrians.
5. Don Valley Brickworks Park
Location: 550 Bayview Ave
Want a breathtaking view of the city? Look no further.
Don Valley Brickworks Park is a beautiful green space including a lookout path which offers a sweeping view of Toronto’s skyline.
There’s no off-leash area but plenty of outdoor walking paths to satisfy your needs. And be sure to snap some photos of Fido with the CN tower in the back once you make it to the top of the trail.
